In tribute to Margaret Moore

The Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) is deeply saddened to hear of the recent passing of Margaret Moore.

Margaret was a dedicated housing professional, working in a wide range of settings, including local authorities, registered social landlords, community-controlled housing associations, Scottish Homes and the Scottish government’s housing and regeneration team.

She was a long-standing CIH member since 1983, and joined the CIH Scotland board in 2015, serving two full terms before her departure in 2021. Her significant contributions reflect her commitment to improving housing and supporting communities across Scotland.

CIH Scotland director Gillian McLees commented on Margaret’s lasting impact, saying: “Margaret had a wealth of knowledge and experience across the housing sector and was a key contributor to our work on housing and dementia, which has helped to spread awareness and understanding of dementia within the sector. Her work made a real difference to the lives of people living with the illness, as well as their families and carers. She leaves behind an important legacy, and we are thinking of her loved ones at this sad time.”

CIH chief executive Gavin Smart offered his condolences, adding: “Margaret was a highly valued member of CIH for many years, and her knowledge, experience and commitment to the housing sector made a lasting impression which will be felt for years to come.

“On behalf of my colleagues, past and present, at CIH – and especially colleagues in CIH Scotland – I’d like to express our sincere condolences to Margaret’s family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.”
