Leading bodies in Scotland’s housing sector have released two surveys on the relationship between housing and health. The surveys will explore how well housing and support services are supporting good health outcomes, the barriers that remain and what more could be done.
The surveys have been created by Scottish Housing Day partners, including CIH Scotland, Scottish government, housing and third sector organisations from across the country, and the results will help to inform a report to be published on Scottish Housing Day 2026 – Wednesday 16 September.
Scottish Housing Day is an annual event organised by CIH Scotland and partners to highlight a particular aspect of housing. The theme this year is “healthy homes, healthy futures” with a focus on the role of housing in supporting good physical and mental wellbeing for residents and staff.
Commenting on the surveys, CIH policy and practice manager, and chair of the Scottish Housing Day working group Ashley Campbell, said: "These surveys are designed to hear from both housing organisations and communities across Scotland – one for tenants and residents, and one for housing practitioners. Each takes no more than five minutes, and we'd encourage you to complete whichever is relevant to you and share it with your networks.
"There are also plenty of other ways to get involved in Scottish Housing Day – from writing an article about housing and health, to sharing a case study from your organisation, or hosting an event or discussion with residents on the day."
