Welsh Housing Awards 2025 shortlist announced

Throughout 2025, remarkable teams and dedicated professionals have continued to demonstrate a real commitment to the housing sector, delivering vital services and support to communities throughout the nation.

The Welsh Housing Awards is an opportunity for us to come together with you and your teams to recognise the creativity, passion and innovation of individuals, organisations and projects that have helped tenants, customers, and communities throughout the year.

The shortlisted nominees are as follows:

Housing team of the year

This award recognises teams who have delivered an outstanding contribution to their organisation and for the housing sector. It is designed to recognise achievement of something special, as part of developing new services, dealing with difficult situations or delivering the best services. 

The finalists are:

Campaign of the year

In challenging times, being there for your community is exceptionally important. Whether you’re a housing organisation whose communication with their tenants and residents has been outstanding, keeping them fully informed and supported or helping them to stay connected; or, you’re an organisation that has led a local or national campaign to persuade key decision-makers to move in a certain direction on legislation or policy, this award recognises the impact of campaigns.

The finalists are:

Excellence in tenant scrutiny

This award recognises innovative approaches to engagement with tenants, enabling them to take a full and active role in the scrutiny of their landlord.

The winner will be announced on the night.

Excellence in customer service

In a rapidly changing environment, the need to deliver excellent service is more important than ever. This award recognises housing teams that go above and beyond to deliver truly outstanding customer service. 

The finalists are:

  • Financial Inclusion Team, Tai Tarian
  • Customer Satisfaction at North Wales Housing – making a difference by providing homes in communities where people love to live, North Wales Housing

This award recognises organisations that have demonstrated excellence in their approach to the health and wellbeing of staff and/or tenants.

Excellence in housing innovation

Excellence in preventing homelessness

This award celebrates organisations, individuals or projects that have worked towards preventing or relieving homelessness in the communities they work in.

The finalists are:

  • Rebuilding Futures: The Ty Catwg Approach, Taff Housing in partnership with Vale of Glamorgan Council

Excellence in the private rented sector

This award is open to all organisations operating in the private rented sector in Wales. It is aimed at letting agents or landlords who strive to excel in the areas of customer service and innovation.

The winner will be announced on the night.

Excellence in championing equality and diversity

This award recognises organisations leading on promoting equality and diversity within their businesses

The finalists are:

  • Driving Meaningful Change Through Inclusion, Valleys to Coast in partnership with Valleys to Coast

Sustainability in housing

The housing sector, like many others, is faced with the challenge of cutting carbon emissions to achieve Welsh government’s net zero targets by 2050. This award recognises organisations that can demonstrate they have overcome some of the significant challenges in cutting carbon emissions.

The finalists are:

The award acknowledges activity that aims to create places that are healthier, wealthier, fairer, smarter, stronger and greener.

The finalists are:

Excellence in Professionalism, Learning and Development

This award recognises organisations who are leading the way in driving professionalism, learning and development while delivering a great service for tenants.

Commenting on the shortlist and awards CIH Cymru director, Matt Dicks, said: "The Welsh Housing Awards is one of the most important activities for CIH Cymru and wider Welsh housing sector each year because it acknowledges in every way how housing professionals make a difference - a difference to the tenants and communities that we serve across Wales, but also to wider public policy objectives that make a difference to all our lives.
