This week our host James Prestwich is joined by CIH president, Jo Richardson!
At CIH, our presidential team is integral to our mission to support housing professionals to create a future in which everyone has a place to call home. As an inspirational figure for the sector, the CIH president often provides "challenge" for improvement which is exactly what Jo is doing during her time in office.
Building on experience through her academic career, Jo’s presidential campaign - named Homeful - will focus on homelessness. The social housing sector already does much to provide homes and support for people, but there's always more we can do. Homeful will include a sizeable co-produced action research project exploring housing-led approaches to resolve and prevent all forms of homelessness across the UK. If that wasn’t enough, Jo’s also embarking on an incredible endeavour to raise money and awareness for youth homeless.
The biggest housing event in Wales
Looking back at some of the big discussions from this year's TAI conference which took place in Swansea on 26-27 April 2022, CIH Cymru national director Matt Dicks is joined by CIH Cymru colleagues, policy and public affairs manager, Matthew Kennedy and Tyfu Tai Cymru manager, Catherine May.
If that wasn't enough, Matt also took some time to catch up with two speakers from the event to give you a little insight into their sessions; NHIC chairman, Paul Everall CBE and Streetreads ambassador from Simon Community Scotland, Emma Jardine.
Understand how to tackle ASB more effectively and improve your services to tenants.
Join our anti-social behaviour (ASB) experts Janine Green, ASB consultant and trainer, and Chris Grose, head of housing advisory services, Capsticks, to explore the elements that help to create a genuinely excellent ASB service.
The session will explore some practical measures to improve services, tenant engagement and satisfaction to deliver the best outcomes for your local communities.
Another incredible episode.
In our latest episode of The CIH podcast, James Prestwich, CIH director of policy and external affairs caught up with the five founding members of Social Housing Under Threat (SHOUT). Reflecting on the origin and milestones of SHOUT, Aileen Evans, Alison Inman, Colin Wiles, Tom Murtha and Martin Wheatley come together to explore what the campaign meant for the sector, along with its relevance in today’s society, almost eight years on.
Chaired by Crystal Hicks from CIH north east regional group we heard from Debbie Larner head of knowledge and products at Chartered Institute of Housing and Nicola Hosfield from the social housing division at MHCLG. We found out more about the new professional standards being rolled out in 2021 by CIH, and the link between the social housing white paper and the professional standards.
