SafeDeposits Scotland is the country’s leading tenancy deposit scheme. At no cost to either landlords or tenants, SafeDeposits Scotland ensures that deposits are securely held and protected, and that any disputes about the return of a deposit are resolved quickly and fairly. Unlike other tenancy deposit schemes, SafeDeposits is a not-for-profit organisation and donates surpluses to the SafeDeposits Scotland Charitable Trust – a grant giving charity designed to give back to Scotland’s private rented sector. SafeDeposits is also the only scheme based in Scotland, operating from its office in Glasgow city centre.

ALACHO is the representative organisation for senior housing and homelessness professionals working in Scotland’s Councils and Health and Social Care Partnerships.

Our purpose is to provide impartial advice and comment to support the development of legislation, policy and practice in housing and homelessness nationally and locally and to promote best practice and improved outcomes from our housing at all levels and across all tenures. Throughout our work we seek to reflect the range of those views rather than attempting always to be a single voice.

To achieve this, we will work with our members, tenants and service users, COSLA and the Scottish Government, the CIH, registered social landlords and other organisations in the statutory and voluntary sector to:

• To support the development of policies, programmes and legislations that deliver on our shared objectives;
• Ensure that housing and homelessness policy and practice supports, and is supported by, wider improvements in service deliver and improved life chances for those in housing need; and
• Promote best practice in all areas of housing and homelessness service delivery. In all our work we will seek to develop a human rights-based approach that supports the delivery of the public sector equalities duty, reduces inequality and challenges discrimination in all areas of service delivery.

ALACHO is a non-party political organisation, we recognise and respect the political leadership in local government, the role of COSLA as the representative voice of Scottish local Authorities and of tenants’ organisations in representing the views and interests of tenants.  In all our work we will seek to reflect the diversity of local conditions and housing systems and the varying needs of all Scotland’s communities.
