The voluntary groups that we work with across CIH are an integral piece of our organisation's puzzle. These groups are made up of brilliant, passionate volunteers, who offer their time and expertise to improve our services, develop relevant content, training and products, and strengthen our voice in the housing profession.
The work of our volunteer members connects to our core objectives to:
- Be the recognised first choice professional body for housing professionals: improving our visibility and the recognition of CIH member value, and developing our understanding of members so we can build a compelling member offer
- Provide relevant, current professional development for a recognised and valued housing profession and career of choice: supporting us to align our offer of leading educational products and services and gain external recognition as the go-to provider of good practice advice, knowledge and CPD activity
- Be the leading voice for the housing profession across the UK: maximising opportunities to use our public voice to effect positive change, promoting the role and value of our members and supporting us to deliver a high-quality events offer
- Be a successful, sustainable and well-respected organisation: supporting us to fully embed professionalism and our EDI commitments and truly live our professional standards to make us representative of the communities we serve.

Conduct
CIH is the home of professional standards and professionalism is at the heart of our member-driven organisation. CIH colleagues, volunteers and members uphold our code of conduct and ethics, showing professionalism, dedication to the sector, and commitment to our mission, principles and values.
You, our volunteers, show great dedication to the sector and by offering your time to support us, you are important representatives of CIH and our professional standards. These standards are woven through our code of conduct and code of ethics.

Individuals who are part of our incredible membership network are required to uphold the CIH code of conduct to evidence their professionalism and dedication to the sector, in addition to their commitment to CIH’s mission, principles and values. The CIH code of ethics consists of a set of values, principles and behaviours that guide the expected professional conduct and judgement of CIH members. Its aim is that all members working in our values-based profession can deliver the highest professional standards in their service to the community.
